Half landing — half drifting

It was the old house, still sporting its pristine oxide hierarchy of particular colours for particular parts that drew me to making this image. Because 'under the house' is a real and habitable space in these types of houses, the view down, the elimination of a horizon, seemed the right one.

Susan, sitting on the upper flight above the half landing, drinking a cup of tea triggers a cultural memory for many of us. Looking at the sprinkler on the grass adds to the drifty feeling although it's not as common a sight now with current water restrictions.
