Taking it in

This is a portrait of my grandfather, the first Charlie in my life, standing under the eaves of the shelter shed he built with his smoke in hand. He's looking around to see what's gone on in territory he was very familiar with.

I had, in fact, relocated his shelter shed and built a house next to it. He used to be fond of saying, in my childhood, 'what's the lad up to' which is what I imagined him thinking when I made this print.
